Our nutrient management team is focused on getting your facility permitted. We can develop a nutrient management plan (NMP), which can be used to achieve compliance and realize the value of manure as a fertilizer resource.
The first step in developing an NMP consists of obtaining crop or pasture land, owned or leased, for disposal of nutrients generated by your facility. The number of acres is determined based on the theoretical outputs of nitrogen and phosphorous, crop yields, slope and soil types and related tillage practices. This land is mapped by our GIS mapping software, which will provide field by field maps identified by your common names, and allow a long-term tracking system for manure disposal recordkeeping requirements. Many NMP’s will be converting from nitrogen-based plans to phosphorous-based plans in 2007, as the newly adopted rules take effect.
The NMP will be written under the guidance of our certified agronomist, who is also certified with NRCS as a TSP for development of nutrient management plans. To date, we have written and received approval on more than 450 plans, ranging from smaller 60-cow dairies to 80,000-head feedlots and all sizes of swine facilities.
Agronomy Services.
With increasing responsibilities of records regarding manure disposal and determining land application rates, soil sampling and related calculations, we have developed agronomy services to include:
- Soil sampling and related services
- Manure application projections
- Fertilizer and nutrient application projections
- Recordkeeping management
SASE can provide one-stop shopping for compliance with all county, state and federal recordkeeping requirements. This recordkeeping service can be streamlined by our Web-Based Recordkeeping System. Please refer to this section of our Web page. |
