Livestock facilities located on shallow aquifers (usually less than 80 - 100 feet deep) are required to monitor the ground water below their holding ponds and lagoons. This requires the installation of a series of small wells, one up-gradient and two or more down-gradient from the pond to determine the net effect of any contamination resulting from the pond.
Our team is lead by a registered geologist and certified ground water monitoring specialist and certified pump installer. This team will develop a monitoring plan, with proposed well locations and sampling procedures unique to your geology and topography.
Our team has bid and supervised the installation of hundreds of wells across the Midwest. SASE will arrange for the installation of large groups of wells in a local region, to be bid by local drillers, on a volume discount basis. This process has saved customers thousands of dollars by receiving volume discounts from the subcontracted driller.
Once the wells are installed, SASE will conduct a post-construction survey and sample the wells for the first sampling event according to state regulations. These results are then submitted to NDEQ within 45 days of installation.
Testing - Ground Water Monitoring Wells
After the wells have been installed, state regulations require that the wells be measured, sampled and reported every six months. These sampling events include testing for nitrate, ammonia and chlorides. The state then reviews the data to determine if there is an impact from your facility, and if any corrective action is required.
Our sampling team can provide you with low-cost sampling and reporting services that also provide third-party verification that ensures piece of mind knowing that your wells are sampled properly and accurately.
This data is also stored in our database to provide confidential trend analysis of your wells. Our geologist will also provide you with consultation, plan modification and recommendations as needed. To date, the SASE team is providing such services on approximately 140 livestock facilities.
Geological Services.
This team is lead by a registered geologist with 20 years of ground water and geological experience, and a professional engineer with 10 years of experience. We have the largest permeability testing lab in the Midwest region, focusing on quality and timeliness of test results for construction projects. Our list of services includes:
- On-site soil liner testing (ASTM 5084) for permeability
- On-site soils analysis, liner analysis and full-service testing
- Conduct shallow (<15 ft) borings for geological investigations
- Supervising and bidding deep geological borings for suitability, structure, soils stability and ground water depth
- Ground Water remediation, Step Seven investigations and plume tracking
- Phase I audits
- Title 200 investigations and remediation on industrial Sites
This SASE team can recommend and develop a plan that than solve your ground water and geological issues as they relate problems. |
